Joshua K. Chesser,
born in 1983 and a native of Huntsville, Alabama, is an associate
with Smith Cashion & Orr, PLC, where he concentrates his practice on
construction litigation, commercial litigation, and general civil
litigation.
Mr. Chesser received a Bachelor of Arts in Political
Science from Auburn University in 2006. While at Auburn, Mr. Chesser was
the Vice President of the Tau Sigma honor society, and a participant in
the Auburn University Global Business Experience in Central Europe. He
also interned in the offices of Congressman Bud Cramer, former member of
the U.S. House of Representatives from the 5th District of Alabama, and
State Senator Ted Little, representing the 27th District of Alabama.
In 2009, Mr. Chesser was awarded his Juris Doctor degree
from Tulane University School of Law where he was a managing editor of
the Tulane Environmental Law Journal and earned the honors distinction
in the Tulane Trial Advocacy Program. While at Tulane, Mr. Chesser
represented indigent clients at the Tulane Civil Litigation Clinic and
was a member of the Tulane University Legal Assistance Program, the
Sports Law Society, and the Tulane Chapter of the American Inns of
Court. During law school, Mr. Chesser also clerked for United States
Department of Justice and received a certificate in mediation through
the Intercultural Negotiation and Mediation program conducted by the
Institut für Anwaltsrecht at the Humboldt University Law Faculty in
Berlin, Germany.
Mr. Chesser acquired experience in construction
accounting, management, and operations during his time spent as an
employee of Shelby Contracting, Inc. in Huntsville, Alabama.
Mr. Chesser was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 2009.
He is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Western, Middle,
and Eastern Districts of Tennessee, and United States Court of Appeals
for the Sixth Circuit.
Mr. Chesser was admitted to the Alabama Bar in 2010. He
is also admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Middle
Districts of Alabama.
Seminars or guest lectures presented by Mr. Chesser
include Liability in the Performance of Building Inspection Duties
(with Ryan N. Stringfellow).
