J. Scott Baldwin, born in 1981 and a native of Huntsville, Alabama, is an associate with Smith Cashion & Orr, PLC, where he concentrates his practice on construction law and litigation.

Mr. Baldwin received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, summa cum laude, from Mississippi State University in 2004. While at Mississippi State, Mr. Baldwin was selected as the Most Outstanding Senior in Electrical Engineering, one of the highest distinctions awarded within the James Worth Bagley College of Engineering. Mr. Baldwin was a member of the Golden Key, Phi Kappa Phi, Alpha Theta Chi, Gamma Beta Phi, and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies, and he was one of 50 seniors selected for membership in Mississippi State’s prestigious Mortar Board honor society.

In 2007, Mr. Baldwin was awarded his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Alabama School of Law. While at the University of Alabama, Mr. Baldwin was a member of the Student Bar Association and the Bench and Bar Legal Honor Society, and he represented the law school at the national level for two years on the Environmental Law Moot Court Team. During his tenure at law school, Mr. Baldwin also clerked for two full years at the Alabama Law Institute, where he worked to contribute research and assist in updating several substantial pieces of legislation that are soon to make their way into the Alabama Code.

Mr. Baldwin is currently a member of the Nashville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations, and he has also acquired membership in the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel.
