Kenneth
S. Schrupp (Ken), born in 1964 and a native of San Diego,
California, is a Partner of Smith Cashion & Orr, PLC and
concentrates his practice on construction law, insurance coverage,
and administrative matters involving municipal and state regulatory
authorities. Mr. Schrupp is an approved Rule 31 Mediator in the field
of General Civil Mediation in Tennessee.
Mr. Schrupp received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil
Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, from Christian Brothers College in
1985 where he was a member of the Tau Beta Pi engineering honor
society. After graduating from Christian Brothers, Mr. Schrupp
worked for several years as a construction project manager,
coordinating all phases of bidding, contracting, and construction on
commercial and residential projects over a multi-state area.
Mr. Schrupp received his Juris Doctor degree, with honors, from
Memphis State University in 1992. During law school, he served as
Editor-in-Chief of the Memphis State University Law Review and was
awarded a Legal Research Fellowship. Mr. Schrupp also received
American Jurisprudence Awards in Legal Methods, Torts, and Federal
Courts. After graduating law school, Mr. Schrupp worked as a law
clerk to the Honorable James D. Todd, United States District Court
for the Western District of Tennessee in Jackson.
Mr. Schrupp entered the private practice of law in 1993 with the
Memphis firm, Glankler Brown, PLLC. While in Memphis, Mr. Schrupp
served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Memphis
Law School and as Associate Counsel to the Shelby County Republican
Party. Mr. Schrupp relocated to Nashville in 1997, where he has
served on the State Executive Committee of the Tennessee Republican
Party.
Mr. Schrupp was a gubernatorial appointee to the Tennessee Council
on Vocational Technical Education and a contributor to “Fifty-State
Construction Lien and Bond Law.” He is a member of the Memphis,
Nashville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations, as well as the
ABA Forum on the Construction Industry. Mr. Schrupp is a founding
member of the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel.
Mr. Schrupp was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 1992. He is also
admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Western, Middle, and
Eastern Districts of Tennessee, and United States Court of Appeals
for the Sixth Circuit.
