Abbey Norvell Barker, Associate

Abbey Norvell Barker, a native of Corbin, Kentucky, joined Smith Cashion & Orr, PLC as an Associate in 2025. Mrs. Barker’s practice focuses primarily on representing contractors, subcontractors, and owners in construction disputes. This representation also includes commercial litigation, homeowner disputes, and contract negotiation.

Mrs. Barker earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with minors in Creative Writing and Sales from Western Kentucky University in 2022, where she was Scholar of the College for the Highest GPA in the Potter College of Arts and Letters, four-year WKU Cheerleader and UCA National Champion, Inaugural Recipient of the WKU Cheerleading MVP Award subsequently awarded with her name, Homecoming Queen, and Greek Woman of the Year.

In 2025, Mrs. Barker received her J.D. from the University of Kentucky Rosenberg College of Law. During law school, Mrs. Barker served as the Online Editor for the Kentucky Journal of Equine, Agriculture, and Natural Resources Law, and her Note arguing Kentucky should require schools to conduct radon testing was selected for publication. Mrs. Barker was also involved on the UK Law Moot Court Board and Student Bar Association.

Mrs. Barker is a current member of the Tennessee Bar Association and the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel (“TACC”).
