Recruiting

To enhance Smith Cashion & Orr, PLC’s construction-related practice, the firm recruits attorneys with either a degree or technical background in construction. The firm hires from its summer associate program, from practicing attorneys, and from law school graduates seeking to join the firm. The firm presently consists of attorneys from a wide variety of construction-related backgrounds, which include engineering, architecture, and contracting.

Smith Cashion & Orr, PLC offers summer associate positions to law students after their second year of law school. Our summer associate program is designed to provide a realistic picture of life as an associate at Smith Cashion & Orr, PLC, and to assess the ability of the candidates to contribute to the firm as full-time lawyers. The summer program provides rising third year law students exposure to a broad range of legal projects, including research and writing, attending depositions, meetings and conference calls with clients, observing trials and other proceedings such as arbitrations and mediations, drafting and responding to discovery, and other projects. Summer associates receive on-going feedback from assigning attorneys. Also, daily interaction with firm attorneys and social events during the summer allow the summer associates the opportunity to get to know members of the firm.
