William L. Fitts

A native of Nashville, Tennessee, William L. Fitts joined Smith Cashion & Orr, PLC as an Associate in 2019. His practice focuses primarily on representing contractors, subcontractors, and owners in the areas of construction law. This representation includes contract negotiation, contract drafting, construction and commercial litigation.

Mr. Fitts received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, from the University of Tennessee in 2016, where he was involved in the Chancellor’s Honors Program and Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity as the philanthropy chair. While at the University of Tennessee College of Engineering, Mr. Fitts worked for a Nashville engineering firm who specializes in commercial construction and MEP design. In 2019, Mr. Fitts was awarded his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tennessee School of Law. During law school, Mr. Fitts was involved with the Tennessee Law Review as a Research Editor, where he oversaw the publishing of multiple editions of the journal, and was also published as an author in the Tennessee Transactions Journal. Mr. Fitts also worked as a Graduate Assistant in the College of Law Library, assisting students, professors and attorneys in their research.

Mr. Fitts was admitted to the Tennessee Bar in 2019. In addition to being a member of the Tennessee Bar, Mr. Fitts is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee and is a member of the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel. Mr. Fitts is currently a member of the Nashville, Tennessee, and American Bar Associations, and the Associated General Contractors (“AGC”).
