In Memoriam: Jefferson C. Orr (1961-2025)

Jefferson Cooper Orr passed away peacefully on May 21st, 2025, at the age of 64, surrounded by his loving family. Jeff was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was deeply committed to his vocation as an attorney in Nashville, TN where he practiced with honor and diligence for over 37 years.

Jeff was a Nashville native and received his Juris doctor degree from Cumberland School of Law in 1987. Jeff began his career at Manier, Herod, Hollabaugh & Smith until co-founding Smith Cashion & Orr in 1998 where he practiced for the remainder of his career. Jeff represented contractors, design professionals, owners, and property insurers in a wide range of matters involving design and construction defects, delay and inefficiency claims, and all types of casualty losses.

Jeff was married to the love of his life, Lori Stockstill Orr, for 38 years, and together they raised four children: Jefferson Palmer Orr (Caroline), Elizabeth Orr Gauntt (Travis), Emily Orr Hegstrom (Tate), and John Cooper Orr (Mikhayla). His greatest joy was being “Dad” to this children and “Pops” to his ten grandchildren—roles he cherished deeply. He is also survived by his parents, Donald Cooper Orr and Eve Loser Orr, as well as his brother, Donald Buchanan Orr (Edee).
